Insulting cops online now illegal in Canadian town

For the record trashing anyone online is disrespectful at the very least.  However, here in the US we have free speech so I disagree with this law in its entirety.  The wonderful thing about free speech is that you can say almost anything you like regardless of what a jackass it makes you look like.  Cyberbully your local PD online, don't cry when you get a speeding ticket for doing 1mph/kph over the speed limit jackass.

Insulting a police officer or municipal official was already illegal in the town of Granby, Quebec, and could net you a fine of between $100 and $1000 (£65-£655).
